Self Love Sundays - Workshop Series

Self Love ain’t selfish. In fact, quite the opposite… Building a healthy relationship with yourself allows you to connect to the world around you in a loving, understanding and kind way too.

Our most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves - this is the base and core of the rest of our relationships. It is impossible to pour out of an empty cup, and we can only meet others to the depth we have met ourselves. 

Acceptance, kindness, compassion - it all starts from applying it to our inner world first. You know... if we can not remain kind and understanding, loving and compassionate toward ourself through the ups and downs of life, how could we possibly offer that to others?

Self love can take many forms. In this series of workshops we are going to explore ourselves in yogic manner from the gross toward more subtle layers of our existence. Re-defining how to look after yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and finally spirit-wise is the main aim of this course. You might learn something new about yourself along the way, too. 



With deeply nourishing, contemplative practices of yin yoga, meditation and journaling we travel toward the depths of our beings. In the core of every living being exists something very precious: yoga calls it Atman; the Soul, some call it Higher Self. 

Also known as pure consciousness, this is  the part of us that is - has always been and will always be - whole and complete. The part that sees and accepts all that is, the part of us that is one with love. 



This is a 3-week journey to reconnect with your own inner light. 



The workshops are progressing gradually, from the outer toward the most inner parts of the self. The invitation is to join all of them - however, if you can not commit, or only feel called to join us for one or two, they are complete workshops on their own too. 

Bring yourself and your journal. The mats and other equipment will be provided on the spot. Be ready for a small chat around the theme, a long adventure to your inner world on the mat, and a little bit of contemplation and reflection in the form of journaling at the end. 

All sessions include yin yoga, breathwork and meditation plus about 30 min lecture + journaling practice. No previous experience needed - just come as you are. <3

Self Love Sundays Schedule

Session 1: Self Care

Sun October 17th, from 2-5pm

Joogahuone Punavuori, Punavuorenkatu 4 Helsinki


“The body is your temple” they say, and yoga agrees. According to yogic philosophy, the body is a vehicle of the spirit - without body the spirit is like a bird unable to fly. 

In the first session, we will explore the foundations of self care - how to keep the body functioning optimally, health of the nervous system and the importance of good food, sleep and company. 

The practice will be dedicated for grounding: coming into the body, finding safety and security within your own skin, releasing all unnecessary holding and tension, slowly melting down the blocks that prevent us from feeling free in our bodies. The body has an intelligence of its own - all we need to do is to learn to listen it’s subtle messages, and then honor them. 


It is your responsibility to take care of your needs and desires, and it starts from the physicality. 

Creating routines around your well being and learning to come back to yourself daily is the first step in re-defining and rebuilding a healthy, loving relationship to yourself.

 


Session 2: Self Study

To love yourself is to get to know yourself - self study is one of the major pillars of self love. 


It’s nice and easy when we are feeling nice and easy… the question is, how do we handle the not-so-nice-and-easy? Human life experience is one of duality - there are parts of us and our lives we tend to see as good or bad. To touch the sense of wholeness inside of us, we must be willing to see and accept every aspect of ourselves. Love doesn’t know discrimination, love is all-including - and there is a part of you that knows this too!


The 2nd session is taking one step deeper in, diving into the realm of thoughts and emotions. We will spice things up with a very intense yin practice (may or may not include many dragons)… and with courage, ride those waves of what does it mean to be a human. Trigger warning - this is a big practice!

Honest observation spiced up with compassion and a curious attitude are the tools we need on the road toward radical self acceptance and deeply integrated self love. Learning to hold space for yourself is also the way to greater self sovereignty. This is how we step into our power and own it!

 

Session 3: Self Love

Sun October 31st, from 2-5pm

What we don’t learn in school, is that we are fully complete as we are. There is nothing to fix, nothing to change, nothing new to learn.

Yoga has a beautiful teaching of a light in our hearts: inside of every living being burns a bright little flame that is free of all suffering. This light represents the part of us that is - and has always been and will always be - whole and complete. It is our own innate, self fulfilling source of joy, a place where we can rest in total contentment. 


By getting in touch with this divine part of yourself you’ll not only have a sweet reminder of your light and brightness, but also your connection to all that is. This light is that which connects us to the source of everything - yoga calls it Ishvara, some call it God or the Universe - and is our link to both freedom and a deeper sense of belonging. 

This is Love, this is Freedom. And it’s waiting there, in your center, for you to remember it.
